Magic Wish List: 5 Planes I Want to Visit

Today Blue discusses some planes we’ve yet to visit in Magic!

Hello, internet, my name is Blue, and today I’ve got an interesting read for you guys. Over the last 27 years of Magic, there’s been a ton of planes mentioned in the lore but many of which we’ve never actually visited. I’m going to be talking about five of them that I think Wizards should consider going to sometime in the near future. Before we begin, I want to specify I’ll be talking about only planes we have not visited directly. They can be mentioned in the lore or have cards from various sets but we can’t have been to the actual plane. As with last week’s article, this list is in no particular order, more just formalities to keep things organized. Without holding you up any longer, let’s get into it!

#5: Regatha

Regatha is a notable plane in the Magic lore as it’s one of the many places Chandra called home after she ran away from Kaladesh as a fugitive. It’s also the unofficial home of Jaya Ballard. Found in the mountains of Regatha is Mount Keralia. Housed in the mountain is Keral Keep, a monastery founded by followers of the aforementioned Jaya Ballard. Keral Keep is referenced in Origins on Abbot of Keral Keep and Regatha itself is referenced on cards like Regathan Firecat.

I’d love to visit this plane because it has a ton of history in the game, considering Chandra and Jaya’s link to the fiery realm. It’d be interesting to see what Wizards does with it once we get there since there isn’t much else we know about the place. They could do a backstory to tell us more about Jaya or Chandra, or we could go there completely separated from the current story as we did with Eldraine and the return to Theros. On the same note, they could also go in on the more unknown of the plane, like Planeswalkers we don’t know about. Either way, I feel a ton of potential from the plane and I hope we go there soon.

#4. Muraganda

Not much is known about Muraganda other than it’s the homeworld of The Mimeoplasm. The giant ooze is seen as a form of afterlife on the planet, believing it’s the gateway to seeing ones loved ones again. Aside from that, we know next to nothing. When, or more rather if, we visit the mysterious plane, I’d be interested in hearing more of what Wizards may do. The possibilities are practically endless considering how little we know about it. To my knowledge, only two cards in Magic reference the plane in any form outside of planechase. The aforementioned Mimeoplasm and Muraganda Petroglyphs. I personally can’t wait for this one to show up on the docket in future years.

#3: Xerex

As far as my research could tell me, we know exactly one thing about Xerex: it has the gravity of a black hole and the moon all at once, with several spots on the plane having the ability to warp gravity. It has been referenced only once in Magic, during Planechase 2012 on Stairs to Infinity. Considering how little we know about the place, there’s a ton of opportunity to do whatever Wizards would like to. There are no known affiliates and we only know about its ability to mess with gravity. Though due to those same reasons, I wouldn’t be surprised if we never went here.

#2:Kaldhelm

Fun fact about this plane: the name literally means “cold home” in several ancient Norse languages. Other than that, it’s another plane Chandra called home and was also visited by Angrath at one point, though we currently don’t know his home plane. We don’t know much about it otherwise. That seems to be a common theme between these entries. I hope to one day visit here so we can learn more about it and possibly Angrath as well.

#1: Segovia

Like most entries on this list, very little is known about this plane. Though while our knowledge of it is small, the plane itself is even smaller, clocking in at a scale ratio of 1:100 compared to the rest of the game. First introduced in Planechase, again like most entries here, it has been referenced a few times in Magic, like with Segovian Angel in Modern Horizons. Of all the things we do know about the tiny plane, we know that Planeswalkers are automatically shrunk to size when they visit the plane and we’ve had one planeswalker to my knowledge actually visit it, Nicol Bolas. This is the only entry on this list that I feel reflects it’s placement because I’m super hyped for it and would love to go here, even more than I want to return to Tarkir.

Wrap-Up

Are there any planes you think we should visit? Do I have any of my information wrong? Do you agree with me that Segovia would be incredible to visit? Let me know in the comments or on twitter @TheRealBlueMTG. Anyway, that’s all from me today. This is Blue, signing out!
