MTG Oracle Commander Webcam League!

Here’s everything you need to know for our Commander Webcam League!

We here at MTG Oracle have decided to host a Commander league played over webcam! Below is all the information you’ll need to know for the event, including how to enter, prizes, and so much more! We hope to see you there!

  • To enter:
  • Date, Time, & Where to Play
    • The event will run from January 25th starting at 12PM CST until February 5th at 12AM CST. 
    • Players may play a game at any time there are 4 players for a complete pod. It doesn’t matter what time it is; if people want to play, then do it!
    • This event is played over webcam. You can use any method your group agrees to use to play your game, but we recommend using SpellTable
  • Points
    • Everyone will play in pods of four and will be awarded points based on where they placed in the game
      • Winner – 4 points
      • Second – 3 points
      • Third – 2 points
      • Fourth – 1 point
    • If more than one player exits the game simultaneously, all players tie in that place. For example, if the last two players of the game exit together, they both get 4 points. (The other players get 3 and 2 points respectively)
    • At the end of each game, we ask that all players fill out this form for us so we can easily keep track of points. It’s only 6 questions – FORM
    • You can view your points and the points of all other players at any time HERE.
  • Ban list
    • This event will follow the official EDH ban list as is on Wizards website. You can view it HERE
    • In addition to this, we have also added a small pool of cards in an effort to help keep the game casual. That list can be found HERE. 
  • Budget
    • There is no official budget set for this event. As long as it’s not banned, you can use any card available to you
    • Proxies WILL be allowed for this event, BUT:
      • They must be printed 
      • They must be legible
      • They must be easily identifiable 
      • Writing on the back of a card in Sharpie is not an accepted proxy for this event
  • Extra Stipulations
    • To keep the game fun and interesting, we’ve added an additional rule for this event. You may use two commanders as though they had Partner, with restrictions
      • Your combined color identity may not exceed three colors
      • Your commanders can’t facilitate an infinite combo with each other
      • You can’t use a Partner with a commander that’s already three or more colors.
      • You may not use a colorless commander with a three-color commander as a “free-role.”
      • If one of your commanders has “Partner with…” you may play as if it didn’t. If you do, you can use any commander with it, but it won’t trigger the “Partner With…” tutor ability
  • Prizes
    • The three players with the most points by the end will receive a prize 
    • All three prizes are etched foils from Commander Legends
    • First place will get first pick of the cards available. Second place will get second pick, and third place will get third pick
    • The specific cards available for prizes will be kept hidden until the event ends, then once the winners pick their prizes, they will be revealed
